Spring Newsletter

Hi everyone, welcome to spring!

While its still cold and wet outside this weekend at least there is a promise of some better riding weather soon!
This is an update on the club’s activities to date.

This summer the club will be directly involved in three cycle events within the area. The revenue raised from events
has been the largest generator of funds for the club since its inauguration and your continuing support by either
assisting on the day or entering the events is greatly appreciated.

The first event is an adventure ride out the back of Rubicon which is around 50 km in length with 1000m of vertical.
Scheduled for November 17 th , it is being marketed towards the gravel grind fraternity but is easily doable on a
mountain bike. The second event is of course Buxton Bootcamp. This event was scheduled to be replaced this year
however it sounds like it is returning once again albeit on a new date early in December. Then we have our ride day
at Lake Mountain in February which has grown in numbers year on year and proven to be a popular non-competitive
day out.

The club has been in discussions with the shire council regarding signage for our roads with a view towards rider
safety. There is currently a roll out of a range of new signs along our most popular riding routes.

We have also had more meetings with Goulburn Murray Water regarding our expression of interest in the land to
the north of Eildon. We have an “agreement in principle” for the club to develop the existing mountain bike trails
further, and to this effect we have been surveying some different trails which we are very excited about. There are
more meetings in the pipeline to nut out the terms of an agreement and a license or lease on the trail area.

Meanwhile there is an application for funding via Pick my Project which we need all the help we can get via votes to
have any chance of success. It is a little tedious to register and vote but hey, its not nearly as much work as what it
took to get it out there!

If you like riding whether it be road, rail trail or single track then this club is working for you either directly or
indirectly. You can support us in the same way.
Directly, by keeping your membership financial. (It costs less than a
pair of socks and via the website it is so easy).
Or; Indirectly, (a) You can enter our events and/or volunteer to help. (b) go to this link and vote for our project. You
don’t have to be living in this community to vote here but it helps. Voting closes in three weeks,

MCC AGM is on Sept 11 th at 7pm Clubhouse 12 Lamont st Alexandra. BYO drinks and nibbles.

Hope to see you out riding soon. Don’t worry…it won’t be just you who isn’t cycling fit!
